more than men in tights…

A new PB!

OK if I’m honest, I couldn’t NOT set a PB as I shot a round I’ve never attempted before.

On a gorgeous afternoon, high, white, fluffy clouds floated gently across a blue sky, occasionally giving respite from the sun. A pair of kites were wheeling and crying overhead as a handful of intrepid members of Reading Archers took to the field.

I was shooting a Long National (4 doz. @ 80yds, 2 doz. @ 60yds) for the first time and 80yds for the first time in 4 years. I guestimated my sightmark and my first 4 sighters hit the boss, one hit the stand and the other went walkabout.

Archery-TargetOver the 80yds I didn’t do very well, but I couldn’t really expect to – yes, I know, distance is all in the head, just do the same as at any other distance, just move the sight down.

I had more misses than golds at 80yds, things will be better next time, and better again the time after that. My results improved at 60yds, but I only had 2 dozen arrows with which to pad/prop up my score.

My score for the round was 344, helped immensely by the six golds & nine reds at 60yds..(which is as many golds as I scored last week at Yateley over 3 doz@ 60yds).

It’s a PB by a technicality, but more importantly it’s a benchmark. I have about a month until I need to shoot the same round in competition. I hope to greatly improve on this by then.

Same again tomorrow morning, 10.30 start, should be all over by 1PM….

Results from the weekend

The full results are in from the Yateley Windsor, I came 18th….I rock…well, closer to rocking than I did a few weeks ago 😀
